Determined to avoid an arranged marriage, Alana devises an unusual plan: she brings home Max, an aimless bartender from Moscow, hoping her family will reject him as the perfect "unsuitable groom." Homeless after a falling-out with his parents, Max agrees to play the part in exchange for a place to stay, unaware that the fake engagement will draw them into a whirlwind of family traditions, unexpected emotions, and life-changing consequences.
