Judith Valencia

Born in Caracas in 1937, Judith Valencia is a Venezuelan economist, researcher, and full professor at the Central University of Venezuela (Universidad Central de Venezuela, UCV). She has served as a political educator for various Venezuelan state institutions and social movements, contributing to the construction and preservation of Latin America's historical memory. Her published works include A Way of Thinking/Approaching Events (1986), Annotations: Methodological Clarifications (1991), The Capital Character Dissolves (Into) Its Territory (2001), and The ALBA Route (2009). In 2025, she was awarded Venezuela’s National History Prize in recognition of her intellectual and academic contributions. She has also received the Alberto Adriani Medal from the College of Economists, the José María Vargas Order from the UCV in 1994, and the Jorge Rodríguez Ethics Order from the Metropolitan Mayor’s Office of Caracas in 2005.
